I can't say it enough, read read read!  Especially, if you are just starting out, there is nothing better than a good book to tie up all the loose ends for you.  In my case, it was a few of these books that really rattled my cage and started the wheels turning.  Once I got past the idea that the label didn't mean anything, I was able to pick up books with the A word in them (Autism) and not take offense to what possibilities existed.  Had I not done this when I did, surely our oldest would have been diagnosed with it!

I started with light reading, Jenny McCarthy's books, and they allowed me to connect with what was going on at first, then I dove in deeper with each additional book I chose.  Some of these are more technical than others so if you are looking for books that share stories and are easier to understand, although convey a lot of helpful information, I would recommend starting with any of Jenny McCarthy's books and my ultimate favorite, Dr. Bock's Healing the New Childhood Epidemics.  That book says it all!!  If you want to head down the path of homeopathy, which I HIGHLY recommend, Autism: The Journey Back will give you an education on how homeopathy works, while the self-guide book will help you self-treat the acute illnesses that always seem to hit right in the middle of the night!  It would be a good idea to own a homeopathic home kit for these random instances.
